What is God’s guideline for defining what a true Christian should look like? “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6 NIV) “Live a life following the example of Christ.” (Eph. 5:2 NLT) “ “If any of you wants to be my follower, put aside your selfish ambition and follow me.” (Matt. 16:24 NLT) Jesus is the standard set by God a true Christian must model to the lost, doomed, hurting
world around them. To be a Christian you’ve chosen to be a follower of Christ and be a true reflection of him on earth. God wants His Kingdom to come on earth and He’s chosen it to come through you and me! Jesus is The Kingdom! When the religious leaders asked Jesus when the Kingdom of God would come he answered, “The Kingdom of God is among you!” (Luke 17:23 NLT) Through Christ, the Kingdom of God came to earth. Through Jesus the words and works of God came to live in the midst of people. The Kingdom came to earth and was preached and then demonstrated in power through supernatural miracles like healing. Where are miracles in the church today? Shouldn’t the normal
Christian life be one of demonstrating God’s power through miracles. Miracles are not reserved for the
elite, but for every Christian to demonstrate in everyday life!
When Jesus departed into heaven He gave His final marching orders to His disciples including you and
me. “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.” (Mark 16:15 NLT) “You will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV) God sent Jesus to show humanity His love and what He is like. When Jesus left for heaven he said, “Now I am sending you to continue my Father’s Kingdom work on earth!” Where Jesus is, The Kingdom is. When you surrendered your life to
Christ, the Spirit of God came to live in you in its fullness. “For in Christ the fullness of God lives.” (Col. 2:9 NLT) That’s mind-blowing. A true Christian has within them the fullness of God! You and I have everything we need to advance the Kingdom of God on earth into all the world. You may not go into all the world, but your world is all around where you live, work and play every day.
