Celebrate National Day of Prayer with the Rochester Community

In 2011 there was a lawsuit to ban the National Day of Prayer. We are thankful to God that the suit was unsuccessful. Throughout the years we have seen various Christian freedoms challenged and some have been lost. This underscores the need for the Body of Christ to hearken to the counsel of scripture. For the Word of God declares that “the righteous are bold as a lion.” One thing that has been heightened in my awareness is that a freedom we so commonly take for granted might easily be lost unless we stand up for what we believe and value. It is important for the Body of Christ to stand up unashamedly and unapologetically and represent Jesus in a God honoring way.

National Day of Prayer calls on all people of different faiths in the United States to pray for the nation and its leaders. It is held on the first Thursday of May each year. The National Prayer Committee was formed in the United States in 1972. It went on to create the National Day of Prayer Task Force, with the intended purpose of coordinating events for the National Day of Prayer.  According to the Legal Information Institute, the President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.

On May 7, together we will be praying over the seven mountains of cultural influence:  Family, Religion, Government, Education, Media, Business, Arts and Entertainment.  Those who believe Jesus Christ is Lord of all are gathering at City Hall in downtown Rochester, New York.  We are gathering from many denominations, ethnic backgrounds, and geographic locations to unite as one in prayer.  We will stand and make an unbroken Human Prayer Chain encircling City Hall and the Monroe County Office Building.  Every Pastor, Priest, Rabbi and Minister is being asked to share this information with his or her congregation, parish, synagogue or group.

God commands a blessing at the place of UNITY according to Psalms 133:1-3.    As we come together in prayer, I believe God will honor our request for revival in our region.

As the Body of Christ continues to come together, we can make a bigger difference in our city, county and country. Join the approximately 1,250 people at City Hall for prayer.  We are asking for clergy, volunteers, photographers, videographers, drivers and much more.

Interested in volunteering please attend planning meeting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at In Christ New Hope Ministry 155 Pinnacle Road, Henrietta, New York 14467.
