You probably know San Antonio export – Spensha Baker – as the highly talented fourth-place finisher of Season 14 of NBC’s The Voice.
But, that was only starting for this vocal powerhouse. Before The Voice, Baker began her career at a young age as a contestant on Star Search and even participated at the White House for George W. Bush.
Spensha Baker – A contestant on “Team BLAKE” from NBC’s Season 14 “The Voice” – has officially signed with Jay DeMarcus’ Red Street Records. Baker joins artists on the RSR roster, including Jason Crabb, Avalon, Cade Thompson, Iveth Luna and Lauren Camey.
At the age of 6, Spensha started her career in gospel music, making appearances on Christian Artist Talent Search and Star Search.
At the age of 15, Spensha Baker went on to launch her first album, Outloud!, saying, “That is the way I live my life: I want to succeed & fail out loud, laugh out loud, breathe out loud, love out loud and live out loud. It is my anthem and can be an anthem for everyone. And even it is the title track on my album.” Spensha Baker is breaking barriers in music, with a genre-defying sound infused with gospel roots.
From The Voice Season 14, her songs consistently released in the top 10 on iTunes, with her performance of original music, Old Soul, hitting #1 on the Country Charts and #3 on overall charts.
Spensha Baker continued to surprise viewers every week with her outstanding performances. In 2018, she auditioned for The Voice by performing Beatles’ “Blackbird.” And she earned chair turns from Kelly Clarkson & Blake Shelton and was selected to be a Team Blake. It carried her to the Top 4, making her the first African-American country singer to make it that far in the competition.
Since placing fourth on The Voice, extraordinary Baker has moved from the Lone Star State to Music City, where Red Street Records has just been announced.
In an Instagram post, Red Street Said, “we couldn’t be more excited to have Baker participating in our artist roster! Red Street Records CEO, DeMarcus said, “when I first heard Spensha sing, I was taken by her voice.” “When we finally met, and she shared her passion for music and God, we
wanted to be a part of her musical journey and are excited about the road ahead.”
RSR’s President & General Manager, Mark Lusk, said, “Spensha is one of the most amazing singers I’ve had the pleasure to partner with.” “I love her voice & love for God. So I am proud that she selected to work with Red Street.”
Red Street Records states, “The main aim of Red Street Records is to touch lives and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ via music. To that end, we want to partner with musicians who share this desire and who effort to get it via their smart and visionary craft.”
Baker said, “although it is always an honor to share my gifts with the world, it’s even more of a benefit to doing it with people who believe in the vision. I am so excited to be a part of the Red Street Records. And I am looking forward to the best days ahead of me!”
