Youngest Member of the Little Rock Nine, Carlotta Walls LaNier Set to Visit Rochester

YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County’s 12th annual Empowering Women Luncheon will take place October 3, 2018 at Noon. Carlotta Walls LaNier will be our keynote speaker for the Luncheon. In 1957 at age 14, Carlotta and eight other black students integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. This act of courage and defiance became the catalyst for change in the American educational system. By ushering in a new order, the Little Rock Nine, as they would eventually be called, became ‘foot soldiers’ for freedom.
